Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Paleo Diet?

I prefer to call the Paleo Diet the “Paleo Lifestyle,” as the word “diet” implies a short-term weight loss program. Simply put, Paleo is the healthiest way to eat. It is a nutritional approach that works with your genetics to reach optimal health. Although it is commonly associated with “eating like a caveman,” in this modern world, it is more realistic to say it is eating real, whole foods and avoiding processed, genetically modified foods. Research shows that our modern diet (which has been shaped by society’s need for ease and convenience and the economical factors of agriculture), has resulted in a laundry list of degenerative diseases and disorders. Paleo promotes lean proteins coupled with natural fruits and vegetables. Many believe that Paleo has helped them lose weight, gain lean muscle mass, regulate blood sugar, improve sleep, increase energy, and develop a healthy relationship with food and nutrition.

What is the Autoimmune Protocol?

Autoimmune disease is a condition where the body attacks its own cells because it is not able to differentiate between healthy tissue and foreign invaders, resulting in an immune response. The Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) is an elimination diet that helps heal the immune system and gut mucosa by addressing inflammation in the gut. It is a nutrient-dense diet that is devoid of foods that irritate the gut and cause gut dysbiosis (an imbalance of the location, quantities, and types of microorganisms in your gut). AIP is similar to Paleo, but avoids other specific foods, such as: eggs, nuts, seeds, nightshades, and non-nutritive sweeteners. There are more than 80 types of known autoimmune disorders, such as lupus, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and celiac disease. AIP is not a cure, but can often put disease into remission and heal the body substantially. AIP may mitigate symptoms for those diagnosed autoimmune disorders or with suspected autoimmune diseases. There are many Paleo foods on the market, but it is difficult to find AIP foods to take on the go. Paleo Power Balls provide a solution to this problem.

What is collagen protein?

Both collagen hydrolysate and gelatin come from animal protein, and in our case, we use grass-fed beef. The hydrosolate is produced in a way that allows it to dissolve into liquids without gelling and is more quickly absorbed by the body. The two collagens share the same amino acid profiles. Collagen protein offers gut-healing properties, and most importantly, provides a nutritious and natural alternative to whey or plant based proteins (usually restricted on the Paleo/AIP diets).

When will I receive my order?

Because Power Balls are made fresh to order, please allow one week for your order to leave our facility and then a couple days for transit. All orders are shipped out on the following Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday morning to the address provided. Depending on the time of year, we may avoid shipping over weekends to prevent exposure to heat.  All orders are shipped USPS 2-day priority mail and a shipping notification is sent to your email at checkout.

How should I store Power Balls and how long do they last?

Power Balls should be consumed within 30 days of manufacture date if not refrigerated, and within six months if refrigerated. Power Balls contain zero preservatives. Extended exposure to heat will compromise the integrity and quality of the product. It is best to store the Power Balls in a cool place or refrigerate, and serve at room temperature.

Are all your products AIP compliant?

Currently, the vanilla, blueberry, strawberry, pumpkin, and carob flavor Power Balls are AIP compliant. The chocolate flavor is made with cocoa powder and is not compliant.

Are you products gluten free, nut free, dairy free, egg free?

Yes, yes and yes!

Are you products produced in a gluten free and nut free facility?

No, we are still in the process of finding a suitable gluten free and nut free commercial kitchen. Good manufacturing practices are used to segregate ingredients in a facility that processes other products, which may contain peanuts, tree nuts, wheat (gluten), dairy, soy and/or eggs. Please be mindful if your allergy is highly sensitive.

Do any of my local stores carry Paleo Angel products?

Currently, we are only selling through our website but hope to be in a store/coffee shop/juice bar near you soon! Please tell us where you would like us to sell our products by emailing amy@paleoangel.com
